What is Beautiful?

What is Beautiful?

The definition of beauty says that it is defined by a combination of qualities such as shape, color, or form that pleases the senses. Although, beauty doesn't always get determined from the outside of a person but also on the inside. Beauty is known to be defined in so many different ways. What I have discovered is that beauty is simple. Beauty is happiness.
This concept is often misunderstood and distorted by all this conflicting pressure from society. It's something we strive for endlessly, rather than see the true nature of our happiest moments. I think back to those times where I used to think that if I don't dress attractively or my skin isn't shined flawlessly that my friends would reject me. Now that I reflect on those times, I was never truly happy trying to win every one's approval. It's been the moments I felt beauty because of happiness and that didn't come from my appearance at all. I love the beauty in those moments when you and your friends can't stop laughing together to the point where your stomach starts to hurt. I love the beauty in the photos I take of the sunsets at the beach or the pictures where people are caught-off-guard while they're having a blast. I even love the beauty of my sweaty face trying to belt out lyrics at a concert as loud as I can. These are the times when I feel the most beautiful, and it's because I feel so alive, not because of what an outside image has tried to influence me to believe. On that note, we are all unique human beings with experiences and memories that tie together to create our own versions of beauty. We are the lives and change we create, and that is beautiful.

  1. I strongly agree with the way you described the real meaning of beauty. It raises the question, when did you realize that looks aren't what makes you truly beautiful.
